Circumstances

The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD.      – Joshua 9:14

Israel had a reputation of killing and devastating people and cities.  In a ploy not to be destroyed, the people of Gibeon dressed as if they were from a distant country.  They asked Israel for the promise that they would not be destroyed.  Israel took a look at all the signs; worn shoes, stale bread, old clothes, and determined that they were from a distant land.

They looked at the circumstances and not to God.

Sometimes the circumstances lie.

How many times in life do I make my decisions based on the circumstances?  Sometimes the circumstances are crystal clear.  Problem is that they are not God.  Sometimes God says the same thing as the circumstances.  Sometimes, just the opposite.

God, I want to listen to you regardless of the circumstances.  I want  to follow you regardless of the way things look.  Help me place my confidence in you and not in the circumstances.

  1. Yes.

Lord, let us follow You. You are just absolutely amazing. So thank You. You have complete control, and let us remember and believe that. Amen.

    God bless,
