Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. 2 There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. 3 He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. – Luke 19
Zacchaeus ran ahead and climbed. He was desiring to see Jesus to the point that he ran and climbed. He had to calculate where Jesus was and where he was going, then he had to take action. He had to do uncommon things; kids climb trees, tax collectors did not. He went out of his way to find Jesus.
Do I go out of my way to search for Jesus? Sometimes. Other times I go about my business. If he happens to pass by where I am, I might take a glance. If he enters my world, crosses my path, or comes down my street, I may stop and listen. If Zacchaeus was anything, he was an example of aggressively seeking out Christ.
Find out where he is going and get there. Even if it means climbing trees.

20 Jan 2009Sometimes I struggle with deciding to not even find the tree. I let him pass by, thinking, "Bah, he'll be by again tomorrow, I'll see him then."

20 Jan 2009Whats awesome …..God knew Zacchaeus would need that tree, at that time. at that place. If I remember right Jerricho was a detour from where Christ was going? A Detour and a seed for a dinner with a sinner Thank you Lord
