Why are you downcast, O my soul?
       Why so disturbed within me?
       Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God. – Mark 14:5

I find myself getting frustrated or down.  I then begin to think of ways to remedy the situation.  Usually that means that I need to change the situation.  Maybe some more money would solve the problem, or some things need to change so that the situation would change, then my attitude would change.  Sounds like a good plan.  Short lived.

My hope should not be in the changing of the situation, but in God.  Situations will change.  Challenges will come and go.  Why not put my hope in a God who never changes?

God, my soul gets downcast.  You have proven yourself.  My soul will trust you.

  1. That scripture repeats twice in Psalm 42. It\’s my favorite Psalm (as of right now).

I love how it shows the dichotemy between how he does feel, and the knowledge of who God is and therefore how he knows he should feel. It\’s a struggle, and one he knows will win out. It is God, after all :-).

I also love how it almost says \”It\’s okay to feel downcast and disturbed — if you\’re rooted with God you\’ll get back.\” I don\’t know how to phrase that without it sounding awkward and it\’s 2am. 😛 I think you get the idea, though.

Lord, all praise be to You. Even when we\’re down — we have to admit, Father, that You\’re in complete control. Let us hope in You. Amen.

    God bless,
