Detection

For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. – Psalm 36:2

How do I keep myself sensitive to my humanity and the shortcomings in my life? Less flattery. It is easy to get wrapped up in myself and think that I am the center of the universe. When that happens, my thoughts are wrapped around me. My mission is myself. If I have a need for Christ, it is to enhance my life, to make me better. When this happens, the thought of sin is diminished. It’s no big deal.

God, may I be proud of your things, not the things of Scot. May my life come around your thoughts and not my own. Humble me when I need humbled and make me sensitive to the sin in my life to the point that I hate the sin as much as you do.
