Assassins in Tampa

A special thanks to my new friends at Common Ground Christian Church in Tampa, Florida. Under the leadership of Danny Schaffner, Common Ground is a 2 year old inner- city, multi-racial church. It is a beautiful kaleidoscope of the kingdom and it fires me up. Common Ground is making a great impact in their neighborhood and are getting the job done.

Danny and the team asked me to come down and preach on Pride from the Assassins series. The podcast of that message is available here.

Thanks OVCF and Headed to Guatemala

Thanks to the fine folks at Owen Valley Christian Fellowship who hosted the band and I last Sunday. We had a great time of worship, celebrating their 5th anniversary. The worship gathering was followed by a cookout (it was amazing). OVCF is led by our friend Bill Grandi. Bill is also an avid blogger. Check out his blog here.

I am headed to Guatemala on Thursday with Shawn, Jody, and Nate and Rachael Brown. We will be working with the orphanages that we support in Guatemala. On Monday (19th), Jody and the Browns will fly back. Shawn and I will stay and join Compassion International for a week-long vision tour of their work in Guatemala. Simple Worship 2 (Compact Disc)

I am excited that Simple Worship II is full of mostly original tunes, all written over the past few years. Some of the songs began in corporate worship gatherings, and others began with me in a room by myself.

Perhaps my favorite song is “Lost.” This was originally the theme for the ABC series “Lost.” After the 1st three shows, they changed the music to what you hear now. OK, so that is a total lie, but it makes for a good story! Actually, “Lost” (the song) was written during a time that our church was really sensing that God was closer than he had been in a long time. In reality he was probably always close, we were just coming to recognize his presence. This song was written during that time.

In keeping with the art of simplicity, the songs on this CD are simple in form with some salt and pepper dashed in for just a little spice. Enjoy!
