Forgot

The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.           – Gen 40:23

Joseph was in prison with two men who had dreams.  Joseph interpreted the dreams, telling one man (the cupbearer) that he would be restored and the other that he would be hanged.  Bad news for one, good for the other.  Three days later they are released and it happened just as Joseph had said.  Joseph had asked the cupbearer to remember him and mention his name to Pharaoh.  The cupbearer was close to Pharaoh, closer than almost any other.

But he forgot.

How could you forget?  How self-absorbed could you be to forget this guy in prison who supernaturally predicted your future. From jail to the palace and you forget.  My guess is this guy had few friends.  His world existed of himself.

God, help me not to forget the things you ask of me.  Help me not to be so self-absorbed that I forget about others; about you.
