Hijack

The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.  Numbers 22:32

Balaam was on his donkey, headed to the King of Moab.  The King had begged him to come and put a curse on Israel.  God gave Balaam permission to go but to only speck the words God gave.  Along the way, his donkey saw an angel and turned away, prompting Balaam to beat the donkey.  God speaks with Balaam and tells him that he is opposing Balaam because his path is reckless.

How can that be?  Balaam had permission from God to go and he was going.  Ah, but God looks at the heart.  I wonder if Balaam was walking, doing the right things at the time, giving the appearance of being in the right path, but in his heat and spirit being reckless.

God opposes the proud.  And the reckless.  He stops Balaam in his tracks.

He should stop me.

God, I welcome you to stand in front of me when you see my path is reckless.  When no one else would know.  When all outward appearances say that things are fine, come hijack my life.
