Interview with Sally Morgenthaler

image Author, musician, worship leader, theologian, and cultural diva Sally Morgenthaler recently sat down with Alan Roxburgh at the Allelon Institute and discussed the role of worship and the church.

Sally is a friend and a solid leader.  I have had the privilege of talking through life and leadership with Sally and I always come away thinking (1) this lady is solid and (2) she makes my head swim.

Grab a cup of Starbucks and enjoy this video interview.

Thanks again Sally!

  1. I\’m quite dissapointed with the lack of biblical backing for Sally\’s thoughts. She seems very interested in her idea of the church. I agree with some of what she\’s saying regarding getting out and living in the community with joy but recoil at the thought that our joy would be in the same things as the world finds joy in. Our joy should in in Christ alone.

  2. Scot,

I appreciate the link to the interview, it was definitely interesting. While I agree with Sally\’s \”in the building\” premise and charge for the church I had issue with a lot of the critique Alan brought up. Much of which seemed way off base to me. I wrote a blog entry on http://www.ourrisingsound.com about it, I\’d appreciate your point of view on it.

    Thanks

  3. I thought Sally offered some great points on looking at creation and enjoying it as a creative work of God. Alan had some pretty extreme things to say that I am still processing. We have to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Does worship music and the \”experience\” have a place? Yes. Is it the end-all, be-all of worship to our creator. No way.
