Is Following Jesus Overrated?

image 1 Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. 2 Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”  – Mt 8

The crowds followed Jesus.  One man approached him. The crowds saw his steps and listened to his conversation.  One man got healed.

Following will take you places.  Approaching may save your life.

Several years ago I was attending a John Maxwell leadership conference.  About 1500 followers of John Maxwell were there that day.  Eight of them had lunch with John.  I was one of the eight.  Why?  Because I approached John and worked my way into a lunch with him.

There are followers, and there are approachers.  As a follower of Christ, I must always remember that there are times to approach him.  Times to speak with him, interrupt him with reverence, and get his attention.

Maybe he is waiting for an approach.

Do you need to step out of the line of following and approach him today?

Do it.

  1. Thanks,Scot! I needed to be reminded that \”faith\” is interactive,not passive!!

  2. Also the woman with the issue of blood had the balls… well… you know what I mean 😉 to approach Jesus. She did it quietly and with faith – and look where that got her! She was healed, made whole, called a daughter by Jesus and treated with compassion and kindness – something she hadn't experienced for 12 years. You are spot on, approaching can change/save your life.
