I am excited that Simple Worship II is full of mostly original tunes, all written over the past few years.  Some of the songs began in corporate worship gatherings, and others began with me in a room by myself.

Perhaps my favorite song is “Lost.”  This was originally the theme for the ABC series “Lost.”  After the 1st three shows, they changed the music to what you hear now.  OK, so that is a total lie, but it makes for a good story!  Actually, “Lost” (the song) was written during a time that our church was really sensing that God was closer than he had been in a long time.  In reality he was probably always close, we were just coming to recognize his presence.  This song was written during that time.

In keeping with the art of simplicity, the songs on this CD are simple in form with some salt and pepper dashed in for just a little spice. Enjoy!

Simple Worship is my 1st solo album.  This CD includes covers and originals in simple form.  Released in 2001, the CD art has pictures of my kids (the essence of simplicity).  When I was releasing the CD, one of my kids said “Dad, I don’t want my picture to be seen by millions and millions of people.”  I looked at her and said “Oh yes, yes you do.”

One of my favorite tracks from Simple Worship is “You Hold the Thunder,” an original tune inspired by the book of Job.  Another favorite is “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” a classic hymn with a great arrangement by Steve Hollis.
