Upside Down

“And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”  – Exodus 3:21-22

Here, God is giving instructions to Moses.  It was their first encounter and God was describing the way that Israel would be led out from Egypt and Pharaoh.  God said they would plunder the Egyptians.  Normally people would plunder a land after they came in a conquered it.  Not so in this case.

Again, God turns the tables and there in another view of the upside down kingdom.  The Israelites would need supplies for a long trip in the desert.  They were slaves and had nothing.  God would supply their needs from the ones who oppressed them.

I wonder if God still does that today.  Maybe there are times that I will seem to be held by something.  Certainly not in the extreme of slavery, but maybe something that holds me more than it should – a job, a debt, a relationship, a situation.  God can work through that I can even have what seems to hold me captive provide for his mission.  He did it with Moses when he was a baby.  Pharaoh ended up paying Moses’ mother to raise him.

Just another example of God using everything to win.

I am sorry for my complaining.  Sometimes I see things that hold me more than they should and I think that they hold me back from your mission.  Truth is that you can do whatever pleases you and that you could use them to your advantage.  You are much bigger than any circumstance.
