Are you a means to an end?

2 And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had greatly blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.- I Chron 15

God didn’t appoint David as King for David’s sake.  He didn’t bless him in crazy ways because he was obsessed with David.  He blessed David in great ways for the sake of other people. David was a means to an end. All he had was not from him and was not for him.  All that David had was for the sake of the people; not for himself

Maybe the things in  life – the things we think are ours – are not given to us for us.  Maybe the things in life are given to us for the sake of others. Maybe challenge, pain, and blessing have come into our lives for someone else’s benefit.  We may get to experience some good things as a result, but ultimately, it is not about us.

Take a look around.  Inventory what you have.  Look at your position.  Think about your challenges.  Maybe they are not for you.  Maybe you are just a means to an end.

And the end is very good.
