Contamination

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.- 2 Cor 7:1

A fitting verse for the 5th day of my 7-day fast.  They say at this point the toxins are leaving the body and there should be a sense of refreshing and diminished hunger.  I’m not quite there yet, but hopefully on the way.

It has been interesting that while there seems to be some contaminates physically leaving my body, I can also sense a spiritual difference.  I wouldn’t say that it is an amazing thin place, but it has been a different dimension.  My prayers during the day seem to be a bit deeper.  Things that would normally anger me (like 1/2 of water in my basement closet thanks to a leak) are just irritating.

Maybe in some way it is a step closer to holiness.  I bet that those on a 40 day fast find that they do live in some thin places.

Thanks God, for this journey so far.  I do look forward to tasting again, but I thank you that I can sense some of your holiness and goodness.

  1. Maybe a lack of tasting with the flesh is helping you to truly taste God. Just a random thought.

Sometimes I wish purification of contamination were as \”easy\” as not eating for 7 days. Then again, most of the the joy, love, and hope of God comes from the journey for me. Even when it stinks…

    Stay strong, brother.

    God bless,
