Lumberjack

image 6Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. 7So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ – Lk 13

It is interesting that the tree is cut down because:
1.  It is producing nothing worthwhile
2.  It is taking up soil.

This causes me to ask the following:  In light of the purpose of my life what are the things that are producing little or nothing? Those things are just taking up soil.

We have a limited amount of soil, resources, and time.  We have to practice soil conservation.  If it is not producing, it needs to be removed and replaced with something else that can produce.

What are the trees in your life that are just taking up soil?
