Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region. Matt 8:34
Thanks Jesus, but you are messing with our culture and economy and something has to go. We would prefer it was you.
Jesus had just removed demons from a man. They had gone from the man to a herd of pigs. The herd ran off the side of a cliff and died. The folks were more concerned about the loss of money than the fact that a man had been made new and a miracle was performed by the son of God. He intersected their world, and made some things right. They now had a choice – live with the Son of God who is full of miracles and restoration, or go back to the way things were.
They chose unwisely.
Thanks, but no thanks.
God, may I never be so concerned with my quality of life that I dismiss you when you intersect. I invite you to wreck my life with your presence. I know it may hurt. In those times, may I chose you.
