Pressure

But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.  Exodus 1:12

The Israelites were in Egypt and were numerous.  A new king took the throne in Egypt.  He had no regard for the history of Israel and certainly did not fear God.  In an effort to make sure that Israel didn’t rise up and fight against him, he oppressed them with heavy labor and tried to controlled their lives.  The result?  They multiplied.  Under pressure, they did the exact opposite of what had been intended.

When pressure comes, why does it seem that I want to lay down and give up?  Maybe it should invigorate me to push through, to do exactly the opposite of pressures’ intended result.  Especially if it is against God’s cause.

God, may I not fold under pressure.  When the difficult times come, may your cause go ahead stronger.
