8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1
God is speaking directly to Joshua as he has taken over for Moses. Joshua is ready to lead Israel into their land. It has been a long time coming. Time filled with death, anger, and blessings. God offers this charge to Joshua and to us today:
Study the book.
Meditate on it.
Obey it.
The result: Success and prosperity. I want to short circuit that, don’t you? I want to do the latest marketing, have the greatest programming, offer the best experience. Or better yet, catch a big break that gives success with little work. If all I do is void of me connecting with God through his written word, success and prosperity is on shaky ground.
What if the extent of our prosperity and success is in direct proportion to our meditation and obedience to God? They are tied together much more than we know.
God, help us to listen. Help us to meditate. Help us to obey. Help us be courageous.
