Songs of Simple Worship 2: “Your Name”

Scot Photo Shoot 026 Your Name

A few years ago I was in Washington, DC, leading worship for the National Prayer Committee. This is a group of people who lead major prayer ministries all over the nation. I quickly learned that these people know how to pray. They made my prayers sound like “Good is great, God is good, let us thank him …” you get the idea. During one session of prayer and worship, the verse to the songs was born. I would later finish the song with a chorus and bridge.

An excerpt from the bridge:

Can you taste the tears of the broken ones?

Do you hear the sound as the choir comes?

I pictured a choir of many nations walking a city and singing to God. That will happen one day. And the city will be way better than DC. Count on it.
