the cause

31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God. 33 I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved. – I Cor 10

imagePaul instructs the church on several things. Here he speaks of eating and drinking. He makes it clear that whatever is done is to be done for 2 reasons:

1. That God would get glory.
2. That others might be saved.

Everything I do in life should be based on those two things. Every decision, every action, every thought, every event, every relationship. It is God’s cause – moving others closer to himself.

Paul understood that. He knew that everything in his life was to be focused around others. It was beyond what he did. It was who he was. He evaluated the things he ate and drank and used the cause of Christ as a basis for his life.

God, may every aspect of our lives bring clarity to who you are and move others closer to you.
