Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”
The angel answered, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. – Luke 1:18-19
An angel had just told Zechariah that his wife was going to have a child. Zechariah had a conversation with an angel. Somewhere in there, he asks the angel “How will I know this is true?”
Hello??? You are TALKING TO AN ANGEL. It sure is easy to read and shake my head at Zechariah. Why ask more questions? God said it, that makes it so. Stop asking more questions. Move. Act.
I do the same thing. I know what God is saying or has said, but my prayers are many times “How will I know if this is true?” Instead of my life moving forward, I keep asking for confirmation of what God already said. Maybe it is time to move and act instead of clarifying the directions – again.
God, may I hear clearly from you and act on my belief, not my disbelief.
